Fretted Clavichord

This is closely based on a late eighteenth century instrument by Johan Jacob Bodechtel of Nuremburg in Christopher Hogwood’s collection. It is double fretted with the d’s and a’s free, and has a compass of C to f’’’, making it a useful and versatile instrument. It has a comparatively large and singing sound and is very satisfying to play. The tangents are tuned to Valotti’s temperament. The case is made of pine, painted outside, and is 134 cm long.
